Dr. Wheeler is a board-certified general surgeon dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality care in a rural setting. Having grown up in the community, Dr. Wheeler is proud to return home to serve local patients and help ensure access to care close to where they live and work.
Dr. Wheeler earned a medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed general surgery residency at the University of Arizona College of Medicine – Tucson.
With a broad scope of practice, Dr. Wheeler performs a wide range of procedures, including abdominal surgery, hernia repair, breast, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and skin and soft tissue procedures. In addition to elective care, Dr. Wheeler provides essential services such as trauma care, emergency surgery, and vascular access.
Committed to continuity of care, Dr. Wheeler works closely with regional referral centers when specialized services are needed, while striving to provide the opportunity for patients to receive as much of their care locally as possible. Dr. Wheeler values building strong relationships with patients and delivering personalized, compassionate care to the community.
